Emergency Medical Information

These are suggested guidelines to prepare yourself in the event of a medical emergency while traveling.

To prepare yourself:

1. Prepare a list of all medications you are currently taking, any medications you are allergic to and any you carry with you at all times. We recommend you also provide this list to your travel partner, in the event you are unable to communicate.

2. Upon arrival, familiarize yourself with the nearest recommended hospital in relation to the hotel.

3. In the event you will need medical attention, dial "0" from any house phone. Be prepared to give details as to the nature of the emergency and the exact location.

INFORMATION FOR NON-U.S. RESIDENTS:
1. Contact your medical insurance provider prior to your departure to find out exactly what you would be covered for in the event of medical emergency, i.e. food poisoning, accidents, etc. Information pertaining to personal insurance coverage should be taken on the trip.

IEEE has established a travel accident and medical plan to protect IEEE Volunteers who become ill or injured, and require immediate medical attention while traveling on authorized business (defined as travel that is paid for by IEEE) outside of their country of permanent residence. Please visit the Volunteer Global Travel Accident/Medical Plan for updated information and FAQs.

2. Please visit the following U.S. Consular website for their recommendations on preparing yourself in the event of medical emergency while traveling abroad.
