The HTC is a partnership between IEEE and the United Nations Foundation & Vodafone Foundation Technology Partnership. The HTC is further supported by the IEEE Foundation. |
Purpose
The HTC will develop and implement technological responses to selected humanitarian challenges in developing countries. The objective is to create sustainable solutions that can be implemented locally, within the environmental, cultural, structural, political, and socio-economic conditions where they will be deployed. The HTC will also define repeatable processes and models that can be used to address future challenges. |
Unique Partnership
To the best of the collective knowledge of all involved, the HTC is the first time that a major humanitarian organization and a technology association have formed an up-front, collaborative relationship. By addressing two especially important areas of concern - public health and disaster response and management - the HTC will demonstrate the value of humanitarians working directly with technologists to create innovative solutions that serve humanity. |
