Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Undergraduate Student Design Competition
| Description | The competition involves designing and building an original device or product not currently offered on the market that applies engineering principles and technology to problems in medicine and biology. Other acceptable designs include a modification of an existing product, and may consist of hardware, software, or a combination of both. |
| Prize | $300-first place award and plaque,$200-second place award and plaque, $100-third place and plaque. The winners of the Student Design Competition will be announced at the Awards Ceremony during the IEEE EMBS Annual International Conference, and will be invited to submit expanded versions of their work for publication in the EMB Magazine. Each finalist will receive complimentary conference registration and social function tickets; a set of conference proceedings and a travel reimbursement stipend in US funds. |

| Eligibility | IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) undergraduate Student members (or membership applied for by 1 June). |
| Basis for Judging | Design entries of 10 pages or less should be submitted with a title page; student(s) name, address, telephone; school name; abstract or summary background, purpose and scope; a discussion of technical description with analysis support, a conclusion, and specifications. A separate verification of project success must be supported either with videotape and/or photographs.
The finalists must attend the IEEE EMBS Annual International Conference and present their designs in the regular conference programs as a poster presentation. |
