The following is intended to provide users with information on how to obtain the permission using the RightsLink service.
RightsLink is a service that provides licenses for the reproduction and distribution of IEEE copyrighted material in print and electronic formats on behalf of the IEEE. Rightslink offers users the opportunity to obtain near-instant rights to reuse IEEE-copyrighted material in books, journals, magazines, newsletters, CD- or DVD-ROMs, brochures/pamphlets, coursepacks and classrooms.
This service is quickly accessed directly through IEEE Xplore. With RightsLink, you will be able to:
Once you have found the article of interest to you, click on the “Rights and Permissions” link located at the top of the article abstract page, which will immediately direct you to the RightsLink service. Here you can choose your permission requirements from a menu of drop down choices, and you can receive an immediate price quote. Users also have the ability to obtain a license to translate IEEE’s articles into the language of your choice, and be able to purchase your licenses from a menu of four currencies.
When you visit to the RightsLink site for the first time, you will need to create a RightsLink account. If you already have a RightsLink account, simply enter your RightsLink User ID and Password.
Depending on the specific license agreement terms and conditions of your institution's IEEE online subscription, you may already have some rights to reuse IEEE content. Check with your librarian or information professional to determine your licensed rights.
To discuss any aspect of RightsLink before signing up for the service, or if you have any questions about the permissions process in general, please feel free to contact the IEEE Intellectual Property Rights Office at:
