As an IEEE Xplore digital library subscriber, you have access to more than two million journal articles, conference proceedings and standards—the world’s leading research on technology innovation.

Put IEEE Xplore to work for your organization. Here you will find all the information and tools you need to start getting the most out of your IEEE Xplore subscription.

Setting up your subscription

Getting started with IEEE Xplore is quick and simple. Just follow these easy steps:

IP address authentication is the preferred method of authenticating IEEE Xplore customers and will enable all features and functions for end users. Once you provide IEEE the IP address range for your institution to onlinesupport@ieee.org, your users will not be asked for access credentials. IEEE Xplore will automatically recognize your users, giving them immediate access to IEEE research.

Shibboleth and Athens authentication access provides licensed remote users with convenient and secure access to your institution’s IEEE Xplore subscription. Customers who already use Athens/Shibboleth authentication to access other publisher resources can use this method to access IEEE Xplore in combination with IP authentication. Set up authentication at www.ieee.org/go/singlesignon.

IEEE Xplore includes prominent customer branding with institutional logos. Please review the specifications below before submitting your logo to onlinesupport@ieee.org:

• Format: GIF

• File Size: < 7 KB

• Dimensions: 200 x 60 pixels

Send an e-mail to onlinesupport@ieee.org to customize how your institution’s name (up to 50 characters long) will be displayed in the Brought to You By box and PDF Banner.

If you have an OpenURL link resolver, you can establish links between IEEE Xplore and additional resources in your institution at http://www.ieee.org/go/openurl. Once initiated, users will be able to check your institution’s holdings for non-subscribed content and documents cited in the reference lists of IEEE articles.

IEEE has created an XML Gateway that enables customers to search IEEE Xplore via the customer's federated search interface. Contact onlinesupport@ieee.org for the IEEE Xplore XML Search API guide.

IEEE makes available a COUNTER-compliant usage statistics site to help subscribing institutions better understand how their users access content in IEEE Xplore. This free service provides secure, password-protected access to subscriber-specific usage information. For more information visit the Usage Statistics for IEEE Subscribers FAQ.

In order to facilitate linking between a library’s Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) or Web site and the corresponding IEEE title, IEEE Xplore provides a table with publication and linking information for journals, magazines, conference proceedings and standards.

Promoting IEEE Xplore

Make sure your organization knows about your subscription with these tools for promoting the IEEE Xplore digital library:

Add IEEE Xplore to the list of subscribed databases on your library Web site or corporate intranet. IEEE publishes in a wide range of technology topics so be sure to include links from relevant subject areas such as Aerospace, Automotive, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Power & Energy, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, Transportation, etc.

Include a description of the IEEE Xplore digital library on your library Web site or corporate intranet. Customize the description below to reflect your institution’s IEEE Xplore subscription:

The IEEE Xplore digital library provides full text access to the world's highest quality technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science, electronics, and other related technology disciplines. IEEE Xplore contains documents from IEEE journals, transactions, magazines, letters, conference proceedings, standards, and the IEEE-Wiley eBooks Library, along with a series of short online learning courses. IEEE Xplore also features IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) publications, select AIP/AVS (American Institute of Physics/American Vacuum Society) journals, and the IBM Journal of Research and Development, which now includes the IBM Systems Journal.

Add search boxes or banner ads to your library Web site or corporate intranet. Download direct search boxes and IEEE Web banner ads.
