IEEE Announces New Online Program to Improve Technical Communications Skills
NEW YORK, N.Y., June 2012—IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization, has announced a new online learning resource, IEEE English for Engineering. The IEEE English for Engineering online program, in partnership with Cambridge University Press, is designed for professionals who have a technical background and some basic knowledge of the English language that would like to improve and strengthen their English communication skills. The courses cover a variety of disciplines including electrical, civil, and mechanical engineering.
IEEE English for Engineering will offer up to 45 hours of interactive courses across three skill sets; introductory, intermediate, and advanced. The courses include content from the bestselling book, Cambridge English for Engineering from Cambridge University Press, as well as high-quality IEEE content including journal and magazine articles and IEEE.tv technical videos.
IEEE English for Engineering is designed so users can work at their own pace. A free placement exam is available which can help determine skill level and guide them in selecting what level courses should be taken. Certificates of achievement can also be printed when each course level is completed successfully.
IEEE English for Engineering is available via the IEEE Xplore® digital library and can be accessed through the IEEE Learning Management System.
