Understanding Our Labels

spacer

Every ad on this site has a label which details important information. Understanding these labels will help you determine if an ad is suitable for your publication or Web page. It also helps us identify and track requests from throughout the IEEE community. See below for an expanded view of our Print and Web Labels, followed by a list of definitions.

* Recommended Placement
: Due to program availability, some ads are recommended for use in the United States only. Any restrictions will be noted here.

Title: The name of each ad, describing its intent. You will notice that many ads have the same name. This is because one ad may be available in several different sizes and colors.

Category: Each ad has been placed in one of three categories for your convenience: Membership, Technology and IEEE (General). For explanations of these categories see the top of the Browse Print Ads page.

Size: The physical dimensions of the ad as you will receive it. The first number represents width, the second height, in fractional inches.

Color format: This describes the amount of color used in the ad. "1C" means the ad is one color, usually Black. "2C" means the ad will reproduce in two colors (usually Black, plus one other SPOT color). "4C" means the ad is four-color process, using standard off-set web press CMYK inks to present in full color.

Code: This is a unique ad identifier for inventory management and tracking.

Provided by: This is the entity responsible for creating the ad. Any questions regarding the ad should be directed to this provider.

Contact Info: This link will take you to a listing of ad providers and their contact information. If you have questions regarding a particular ad or would like to request native QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign CS2 files, contact the "Provided by" entity listed within the ad label.
