The awards and recognition program of the Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGA) is designed to promote, recognize, and reward excellence in promoting the interests of IEEE as reflected in the operations of MGA and IEEE geographic unit activities (Regions, Councils, Areas, Sections, Chapters, Affinity Groups, Student Branches, and Student Branch Chapters). The MGA awards and recognition program is administered by the MGA Awards and Recognition Committee (MGA ARC).
Every three years, the MGA William W. Middleton Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who, over a long and sustained period of leadership, contributed in an exemplary manner to the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Board, its activities and achievements, and the attainment of its goals and objectives. Selection criteria, the link to the nomination portal, and more information on the MGA awards process are available.
Candidates must be IEEE Senior member grade or higher. The accomplishments of the candidate should be of "significant performance" and should have made a distinguishing contribution to IEEE.
The deadline for nominations is 15 May 2014 (for completed nomination form and two letters of endorsement).
Each year, the MGA Outstanding Section Awards are presented to one large Section and one small Section (across all Regions) to recognize their excellent work and successful efforts in fulfilling the educational and scientific goals of IEEE for the benefit of the public. The recipient Sections are acknowledged for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Student Branches, Technical Chapters, and affinity groups within their geographic boundaries.
