Section Growth Awards recognize the Section in each Region having achieved the highest rate of growth.

Section Sustained Growth Awards recognize the Section in each Region having achieved the highest continued success in attracting and retaining IEEE membership.

Selection Criteria and Eligibility

  • No nominations are accepted for this award;
  • The Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) Department will generate statistics for submission to the MGA Awards and Recognition Committee (ARC);
    • Note: Statistics do not include Student or Honorary Members;
  • Section Membership Growth Award recipients are determined by using the total percentage of membership growth within the Section within each Region;
  • Section Membership Growth Award recipients are determined by using a set of 3-year results (4-year membership totals).  The results are tabulated as extracted from the individual year Section Membership Growth Award results.  The recipient is the Section with the best composite score;
  • Sections that do not fulfill the following conditions are eliminated:
    • The Section must have met ALL Bylaws requirements, including minimum membership and reporting during the year(s) in review;
    • Total membership of the Section excluding Students must not have decreased during (any of) the year(s) in review;
    • The Section must have the required maintenance level of 25 members as of the start of the calendar year(s) for which the award is given.

Selection and Award Instrument

  • up to ten (10) Section Growth Awards and (10) Section Sustained Growth Awards will be presented annually;
    • one (1) Section per Region;
    • awards will not be presented if no Sections qualify;
  • recipients will be endorsed by the MGA Awards and Recognition Committee and approved by the MGA Board at the June MGA Board Meeting;
  • recipients will be notified in July;
  • recipients will receive a congratulatory letter addressed to the current Section Chair and a Web banner to be shown on the Section Web site.
