The IEEE History Center's Milestones celebrate technological breakthroughs or turning points, around a number of which the IEEE Life Members Committee (LMC) organizes technology themed tours. The IEEE Technical Tour of Canada, scheduled for 25 August–3 September 2013, is the fourth IEEE Technical Tour of the IEEE Life Members Committee. The following itinerary includes visits to the awarded IEEE Milestones, as well as to related museums and cultural heritages in Eastern Canada. Take advantage of this great opportunity to get to know the history of electrical engineering achievements and the cultural heritages in Canada.
The tour is planned with Life members and their companions in mind, and the pace of the tour is set for seniors; however, all IEEE members are welcome.

Registration
Final details for the 2013 Life Member Technical Tour are being finalized now. The tour will take place in Eastern Canada from 25 August 2013 through 3 September 2013. Costs, accommodations, and registration information will be forthcoming. The draft itinerary is posted below.

Day 5: Thursday, 29 August
- Travel to Montreal
- Hydro Quebec, First 735 KV AC Transmission System (IEEE Milestone): Montreal, Quebec - Local Life member to provide tour through Hydro Quebec Building
Day 8: Sunday, 1 September
- Ferry to First Submarine Transatlantic Telephone Cable System (IEEE Milestone): North Sydney, Nova Scotia
Day 9: Monday, 2 September
- Heart's Content Cable Station, Landing of the Transatlantic Cable (IEEE Milestone): Heart's Content, Newfoundland
- Signal Hill, Reception of Transatlantic Radio Signals (IEEE Milestone): St. John's, Newfoundland
- Site-seeing in St. John's, Newfoundland
Day 10: Tuesday, 3 September
- End of Tour after breakfast
- Breakfast at leisure at the hotel; the tour is officially complete
