How can I contact my members via e-mail using IEEE e-Notice?

IEEE e-Notice is an electronic newsletter subscription service that has been developed for IEEE Organizational Units to facilitate e-mail distribution of newsletters, meeting notices, and IEEE conference materials.

The source of e-mail addresses for e-Notice is the IEEE Membership Database.  New members are automatically added, members who move to a new Section are automatically moved, and deceased members are automatically omitted.

Each message gives the member an opportunity to opt-out of future e-mailings.  Section Officers may only distribute messages to people within their Section.

The basic steps to using e-Notice are:

  1. Section or Chapter registers for the service.
  2. Staff creates the e-mail list from the IEEE Membership Database.
  3. Unit submits the mail piece.
  4. Staff distributes message using a commercial outbound e-mail system.
  5. Staff receives and handles bounced messages.
  6. Each message that is sent includes an unsubscribe URL.
  7. Members who unsubscribe from the list will automatically be omitted from all subsequent mailings for that particular list.
  8. Section/Chapter Chairs are provided with message delivery statistics.

How do we conduct a survey of the members within my Section?

If your Section would like to conduct a survey of members, it is strongly recommended that you contact IEEE Strategic Research and Planning (SR&P).  IEEE SR&P provides research services to the entire IEEE.  Typical research projects examine the needs and opinions of specific groups, assess satisfaction levels, investigate new ideas, evaluate outcomes, or measure the effectiveness of products and services.

IEEE SR&P will use their expertise to make the members' experience as pleasurable as possible.  A poorly designed questionnaire can often irritate and frustrate our members.  This can lead to members' lack of cooperation with future studies and general dissatisfaction with IEEE.  Poorly designed research can also lead to misleading results and subsequently to poor business decisions

Please e-mail IEEE SR&P with any questions.
