Section Executive Committee

The principal responsibility of a Section Executive Committee member is to oversee the management of the Section, and in so doing, serve the best interests of the IEEE, its members, and the public.

The Section affairs shall be managed by an Executive Committee consisting of the elected officers.  The number of voting members elected must be at least one greater than those appointed.  Chapter and Affinity Group Chairs, as elected by their membership, are considered “elected” officials, as is the Past Section Chair.

All Chapters and Affinity Groups in the Section shall have voting representation either individually or collectively on the Section Executive Committee, and the Subsection Chairs shall be ex-officio members with voting power.

Sections may have Student representation on the Executive Committee through appointment of one Student member and/or the Chair of the Section Student Activities Committee.

Information on the Management of Section activities is noted in the MGA Operations Manual - Section 9.4.

What positions are currently recorded in the IEEE Geographic Roster?

The IEEE Geographic Roster is part of the IEEE Organization Roster.  The information in this roster is restricted to individuals who have an IEEE web account and is based on their current Officer position or Committee appointment.  If your name is not listed in the roster, you will not have access to this information.

The data is pulled directly from the IEEE membership database, and therefore reflects the most current information available.  Updates and corrections may be made by the individual volunteer using his or her web account.  The corrected data will appear following the next "refresh" within two weeks.

The following positions are currently captured within the IEEE Geographic Roster for each Section.

Why and how do I report a change of Officers and/or election results?

It is very important that each Geographic Unit report their change of Officers/volunteers as soon as possible.  This will ensure that the IEEE Geographic Roster will be updated and that the individual will have access to SAMIEEE, vTools, and Entity Web Hosting services provided by IEEE MGA.  A prompt reporting of officers/volunteers will also ensure that these individuals will also be included on SCOOP monthly newsletter.

All officers (Section Chair, Section Treasurer, Section Vice Chair, Section Secretary) shall be elected annually. The term of office for all officers shall normally be one year, but may continue until a successor has been duly elected and takes office.  The term of office will date from 1 January through 31 December.  The consecutive period of service in any one office shall normally not exceed two years.  Such exceptions require approval by the Region Director who will annually report such exceptions to the MGA Board. An individual may be re-elected to a position previously held provided at least one year has passed since he or she held that office.

Individuals who are serving as Committee chairs within a Section should be appointed annually by the Section Chair with the consent of the Section Executive Committee.
