President/CEO Andrew L. Drozd is the Founder, President/CEO, and Chief Scientist of ANDRO Computational Solutions, LLC. He has over 33 years of company management and technical experience in the areas of electromagnetic environment effects (E3), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), computational electromagnetics (CEM), spectrum engineering, multisensor information fusion, and automated target recognition (ATR). He established ANDRO in 1994 to serve both defense and industrial markets focusing on R&D in the above technology areas. Mr. Drozd's responsibilities include: systems engineering, computer modeling/simulation, computational engineering and software model development, and engineering analysis directed at the study of E3 on complex systems. This includes the analysis and prediction of electromagnetic interactions, propagation, and coupling to assess system-level EMC. His other research areas have been on the development of knowledge-based information fusion architectures for multisensor ATR applications. He has chaired working groups in the development of a first-of-a-kind standard and recommended practice for validating CEM tools/techniques. IEEE Accomplishments – As an IEEE Fellow and a dedicated member, Mr. Drozd has made a conscious effort to gain experience as well as contribute to all facets of IEEE volunteer opportunities at the chapter, society and Institute levels. He has been active in the arenas of Standards, Technical, Membership, Communications and Conference Services. This prepared him to deal with virtually all strategic and long-range planning activities at the Institute level. He has primarily directed his attention and efforts on the technical and standards areas in order to ensure that these are well enabled to serve our members’ needs and to benefit the product community at large. He has gone through the IEEE membership process starting at the grassroots section/chapter level and became a Society President (2006-2007, EMC Society). He is a respected member and contributor to IEEE TAB and now is on the IEEE Standards Association Standards Board (SASB). He is currently serving as a member of RevCom to assure that quality and procedural aspects of the standards development process are adhered to. He has also been a driving force at the Society/Institute levels to align IEEE interests towards state of the art technologies, including advanced product development and specification conformance. Statement – As a member of the IEEE-SA Board of Governors, I will work diligently to ensure that the quality and accepted procedures of the IEEE standards development process are maintained to the highest degree. When the standards development process begins, the bar must be kept high to assure that technical accuracy, process implementation, and meaningfulness to users including product developers remain intact. It is incumbent on a member of the IEEE-SA Board of Governors to make certain that standards and recommended practices in process cover subjects which are of a timely nature, eliminating the pitfalls associated with non-starter or obsolete technologies or applications. We need to be vigilant of leading-edge technologies and how standards development will play a role in their evolution. It is equally important to be mindful of instituting the proper governance and actions that will engage the international community in developing joint standards. |

Statement – I am a candidate for Member-at-Large of the IEEE-SA Board of Governors for the 2010-2011 term. As a participant in the IEEE process of creating standards for many years, I have come to appreciate the intricacies of moving a project through the entire process. As a member of the IEEE Standards Board for four years, and of NesCom since 2004, I have worked to make the process more transparent, particularly for the first-time working group chair. I have served as a mentor on a number of projects involving several sponsor committees, to help the sponsors obtain approval of PAR submissions in NesCom. I have served in a similar role for a number of projects sponsored by the Switchgear Committee of the Power & Energy Society. If elected to the Board of Governors, I intend to work further to make the IEEE Standards Association a more user-friendly organization. |
