How can I renew my membership, change my subscription(s), and/or modify my society affiliations?

You can renew, change subscriptions, and modify society affiliations by accessing the IEEE home page.  Once you log in, the options for these various activities can be found under "My Membership/Subscriptions” or “What Do You Want To Do?”.

How can I retrieve my Web account username and/or password?

Once I renew my membership online, can I then go back and add services (i.e., society memberships) or publications at a later time?

You can add society memberships, change membership options, or add/change subscriptions to your membership through August of the current membership year. Learn more about adding services or publications.

What is the IEEE membership year?

The IEEE membership year is 1 January to 31 December.

Is it safe to pay for my membership online?

Yes. IEEE conducts secure and private credit card transactions using Verisign's Payflow payment services. Learn more about the IEEE’s privacy policy.

Will I receive a receipt after renewing my membership online?

After renewing your IEEE membership online, you will receive an e-mail confirmation within a few minutes.  During the checkout process, you will have the option to print a receipt. You can also print a receipt at any later time by simply logging back into your account.

When will I receive my new membership card?

Your membership card will be sent within 3 weeks of renewal.

Are there optional air freight services outside of North America?

Air freight service is available to all subscribers outside of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. By using air freight, you will save 4-5 weeks delivery time to Europe, and up to 6 months to South America and the Far East.  Air freight rates are in addition to the regular subscription fee. How do I update my contact information?

You can change your address and/or contact information on your profile page. Log in now, click on “Address Profile”, and make the necessary updates.

What is the policy regarding the dissemination of subscriptions purchased by members?

The IEEE personal use policy dictates that subscriptions purchased by IEEE Members at the member price are intended for members' personal use only.

How does IEEE use the information collected in the personal profile and communication preferences?

The information collected by the IEEE in the “Interests” area is used to verify magazine circulation.  Here, you can also choose whether your name should be included in the IEEE Membership Directory and/or released to other engineering-related organizations. How does IEEE use the technical interest information collected during renewal?

This information is used to better understand and meet the technical and professional needs of IEEE Members, as well as better understand member's professional needs. Change your technical interests.

Is my renewal tax-deductible?

IEEE member dues, assessments, Society dues, and subscriptions to IEEE publications may be tax-deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses for U.S. members (subject to IRS guidelines).  IEEE cannot offer specific tax advice and strongly urges you to consult a tax advisor. My company is paying for my membership dues and has asked whether any percentage of the dues payment is allocable to nondeductible lobbying and political expenditures as described in the U.S. Internal Revenue Code ?

No portion of IEEE dues are allocable to nondeductible lobbying and political expenditures.
