Leah Jamieson received her S.B. degree in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. from Princeton University. She has taught at Purdue University since 1976. Jamieson’s research interests include speech analysis and recognition; the design and analysis of parallel processing algorithms; and the application of parallel processing to the areas of digital speech, image, and signal processing.

Jamieson has been an active volunteer in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is the 2007 IEEE President and CEO. She is also co-founder and director of the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) undergraduate engineering design program, initiated at Purdue and adopted by 17 universities. For her work with EPICS, she co-received the U.S. National Academy of Engineering’s Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education.

Leah Jamieson is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering.
