The Presidents of IEEE, Past and Present

The history of the IEEE is truly a rich one. From its beginnings in 1884 as the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE), to it's merger with the Institute of Radio Engineering's (IRE) in 1963 to form the IEEE, it has been led by some of the most prestigious engineers of the time.

The Presidents of the IEEE, past and present, have lead this Institute to a stature of being the largest professional technical Society that it is today.

We often receive requests for a list of the President, which has spurred these web pages. We hope that you find it useful to have the information on-line.
