A Conceptual Framework for Assessing the Benefits of a Global Earth Observation System of Systems

Several questions regarding the study of earth observation are addressed, including: how much additional investment in Earth observation (and specifically, in its international integration) is enough? How can the benefits of Earth observation be assessed? What are the incremental costs of the Global Earth Observation System-of-Systems (GEOSS)?

Tsunami Detection Systems for International Requirements

Results are presented regarding the first commercially available, fully operational, tsunami detection system to have passed stringent U.S. government testing requirements and to have successfully demonstrated its ability to detect an actual tsunami at sea.
