  • The 2004 IEEE Non-Renewing Higher Grade Member Study is an annual project conducted by the IEEE Research area and IEEE Membership areas on non-renewing IEEE members.
  • The research helps identify the profile of the non-renewing member, identifies reasons for dropping membership and suggests improvements in product and services and possible strategies for membership growth and retention.
  • A new component of the 2004 project was to explore the impact Society membership has on a member’s decision not to renew their IEEE membership.

Participants

  • 31,835 non-renewing high-grade members were invited to participate in a Web survey.
  • 6,676 former members responded (23% response rate).
