2006

EAB established a Working Group on Education in China and held a face-to face meeting in

Beijing in November 2006.

2007

EAB held a major workshop in Beijing on engineering accreditation in cooperation with the Chinese Association f or Science and Technology (CAST); 40 people were in attendance. IEEE representatives also attended meetings with the Ministries of Personnel, Construction and Education.

 

EAB completed a translation of ABET accreditation materials into Simplified Chinese .

 
 2007 CAST

2008

IEEE EAB was invited to attend an “Engineering Education Accreditation Training Conference” hosted by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and M nistry of Education ( MoE ). Approximately 240 accreditation experts from China were in attendance. Moshe Kam , 2008 Chair of the CGAA and Michael Lightner , 2006 IEEE President conducted a half-day workshop and presented “The Fundamentals of Accreditation” and “Experience with Existing Outcome-based Accreditation Approaches”.

 

CAST plans to hold pilot accreditation visits in 2008 and 2009 and plans to apply for provisional membership in the Washington Accord in 2009.
