Welcome to the Committee on Global Accreditation Activities (CGAA) web site. On the following pages, you will find information about CGAA and IEEE's leadership role in the advancement of engineering, engineering technology and computer science education worldwide. The IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) has taken this leadership role by informing members of the advantages of establishing international standards through education accreditation systems. Accreditation historically has been viewed as a means of improving the quality of engineering and computer science education, and as a means of identifying academic programs that meet quality standards. As the practice of engineering becomes more and more global, accreditation is also seen as a means of establishing credentials for international practice.

It is the goal of the IEEE EAB CGAA to expand its activities beyond informational workshops.  Specifically, we wish to inspire and enable local IEEE members from all over the world to construct new or to improve their current accreditation systems.  The definitive goal is to encourage and inspire local IEEE members to proceed independently to manage and govern their own accrediting bodies, to use their own resources and to meet their own cultural requireme nts.

Your comments, suggestions, and questions are welcome.

Sincerely,
Moshe Kam, 2008 Chair
IEEE Committee on Global Accreditation Activities
