CTAA Criteria Sub-Committee

This document describes the procedures for: reviewing criteria, reviewing and updating CTAA on all changes to criteria, actively participating in the development of TC2K (Technology Criteria 2000) and developing a policy and procedure of operations and bringing same to CTAA.


Responsibilities, Procedures & Timelines

I. MEMBERSHIP

A. Members to be appointed by CTAA chair for renewable terms - reviewed annually

B. Membership should have broad representation - academia, industry, 2yr & 4yr colleges

C. Membership should be staggered to promote continuity - according to length of terms of CTAA appointments


II. REVIEW CURRENT PROGRAM CRITERIA


A. Review existing criteria & identify need for changes - on a periodic basis, divide program areas between sub-committee members according to preferences and areas of expertise

B. During the fall accreditation visit period, solicit input from academia, CTAA/TAC commissioners and PEV's (via the T-4), industry, and related societies having experience with current criteria - prior to the January CTAA meeting

C. Propose changes to CTAA - discussion item at CTAA meeting, develop specific wording

D. Solicit feedback from academia, industry and related societies - before the June CTAA meeting

E. Submit to CTAA for action - present findings, action item at the June CTAA meeting


III. NEW PROGRAM CRITERIA


A. Identify new program areas & program criteria - as perceived need arises, sub-committee as a whole

B. Propose new program to CTAA - preliminary discussion item at CTAA meeting, develop plan for soliciting input & evaluation

C. Solicit initial input from academia, CTAA/TAC commissioners, industry and related societies - before next CTAA meeting

D. Present findings to CTAA - 2nd CTAA meeting, develop specific wording

E. Solicit comments on proposed new program criteria - before next CTAA meeting

F. Submit to CTAA for action - present findings, action item at 3rd CTAA meeting


IV. GENERAL CRITERIA


A. Current

  1. Review existing criteria & identify need for changes - on a periodic basis, sub-committee as a whole

  2. Propose changes to CTAA - discussion item at CTAA meeting, develop position statement

  3. Solicit input on proposed changes from academia, CTAA/TAC commissioners, and industry - before next CTAA meeting

  4. Submit to CTAA for action - present findings, action item at next CTAA meeting

B. Proposed Changes

  1. Review proposed TAC changes and assess impact upon IEEE programs - annually or as special need arises

  2. Present to CTAA - discussion item at CTAA meeting, develop position statement

  3. Solicit feedback from academia, CTAA/TAC commissioners, and industry - before next CTAA meeting

  4. Submit to CTAA for action - present findings, action item at next CTAA meeting
