National Energy Technology Laboratory Teacher In-Service Program (TISP) Training Workshop

This training session will be hosted on 23-24 October 2009 for IEEE members and NETL employees who are interested in helping bring increased emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math into their local schools. The session will provide tips and strategies on how to connect with local educators, participation in hands-on activities, talks from local educators, and resources to help conduct teacher in-service presentations.

The TISP is a proven program that will aid teachers by leveraging the existing engineering knowledge and skills in the country towards improving teachers’ knowledge of engineering concepts.

The overall goals of the TISP are:

Enhance the level of technological literacy of pre-university educators.
Encourage pre-university students to pursue technical careers, including engineering.
Increase the general level of technological literacy of pre-university students for many years.
Increase the level of understanding of the needs of educators among the engineering community.

The event is organized by the National Energy Technology Laboratory, The Energy Lab, and the IEEE Educational Activities Board.
