EE, CE and CS FACULTY – WE WANT YOUR PROJECTS !

Real World Engineering Programs Logo

IEEE announces a call for projects that will lead to an exciting new resource for faculty who teach first year electrical engineering (EE), computer engineering (CE) and computer science (CS) students.

We all know how challenging it is to “grab” first year student’s interest and engage them in real engineering concepts.   These projects should:

  • Focus students on Real World problems with solutions that benefit society
  • Get students excited about their own, original creative solutions
  • Increase student retention through personal satisfaction and accomplishment
  • Enhance student accomplishment through achievement

IEEE is rewarding faculty for designing exciting, relevant projects that require students to use critical thinking skills to solve engineering problems in a meaningful context.

Authors of completed projects will receive an honorarium from IEEE and their work will be disseminated widely through IEEE websites, conferences, and publications.

Call for Projects

These projects will ultimately comprise a database entitled Real World Engineering Projects: EE, CE & CS Curricula:  an on-line library of contemporary, hands-on projects to use in the first year curriculum and 1) encourage student learning through participation, 2) increase student retention through satisfaction, and 3) improve student confidence through achievement. Call for Workshops

Group Project To further help faculty, IEEE will be disseminate high quality, online, self-study workshops on the best pedagogical techniques for the electrical engineering (EE), computer engineering (CE) and computer science (CS) classroom. These will feature the latest research on how students learn and the most effective ways to teach engineering, science, technology and mathematics.   Learn more
