IEEE is divided into ten geographic Regions worldwide. Within those Regions are more than 325 local Sections and over 1,700 Technical Chapters that unite local members with similar technical interests.

IEEE Member and Geographic Activities

IEEE Member and Geographic Activities provide unique opportunities to attend technical presentations, create strong peer-to-peer connections, and participate in leadership opportunities that can make a positive distinction in IEEE members' jobs and careers.

Activities take place on a local level through the development and maintenance of Geographical Organizational Units: Regions, Sections, Technical Chapters, Affinity Groups, and Student Branches.

Member and Geographic Activities are volunteer-driven by members and the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGA Board).

Announcing Quick Start Training for Geographic Unit Leaders

The MGA Leadership Training Initiative Ad Hoc Committee is proud to announce the release of the Quick Start Training (for Geographic Unit Leaders), a new training program designed for Geographic Unit Officers in their first 30 days in office.  Quick Start Training was developed to help new Officers more quickly understand the roles and responsibilities of their positions and begin the process of member engagement.

The release of the Quick Start Training acknowledges our Section leaders' highest priorities as voted on at Sections Congress 2008 in Quebec City.  Please refer to Sections Congress Recommendation #3.

Society Technical Chapters

A Chapter is the technical subunit of one or more IEEE Sections. Society Chapters are your local link to the valuable resources available from IEEE and its 39 Technical Societies.  Chapter activities may include guest speakers, workshops, and seminars, as well as social functions.  Chapters provide Society members with valuable opportunities to network at a local level - enabling both personal and professional growth.
