Section/Chapter Rejuvenation Strategies | Printer Friendly |

The links on the right menu bar are intended to assist IEEE volunteer leadership in their efforts to rejuvenate Geographic Units of the organization. The Geographic Units referred to for these rejuvenation strategies are Sections, Subsections, Chapters and Affinity Groups. Most IEEE Geographic Units are active and provide a successful service to members and to the engineering community. However, for any one of a variety of reasons, it sometimes happens that a Unit becomes inactive and fails to function as intended. Thus, there is from time to time a need to try to rejuvenate such inactive Units as an alternative to their dissolution or amalgamation with a suitable active entity. IEEE does not wish to dissolve any entity while there is some hope of re-activating it. An inactive Section might be merged with a geographically adjacent Section or an inactive Chapter might be dissolved or made Joint with an active Chapter of some other Society in the same Section. Such a change may not be welcomed by many of those involved. Therefore some strategies have been developed to provide advice and assistance in the rejuvenation process for inactive Units, and this site is intended to provide a basis for accessing these strategies. It is also recommended that volunteer leadership of all Units review the document "A White Paper on Closer Relations Among Sections, Chapters and Societies" developed by the IEEE RAB/TAB Section/Chapter Support Committee. This document is available on the internet at www.ieee.org/rabopsman in "Appendix III." |
