While it is expected that volunteer leadership within Societies and Geographic Units are aware of the activities of the units for which they are responsible, there are also specific measurements available:

  1. Meeting Activity Reporting - There should be a minimum of two (2) technical meetings per year of a Chapter, five (5) meetings for a Section (which can include the Chapter meetings). Meeting activity reports should be submitted to IEEE Regional Activities by the 3rd week of February each year.

  2. Financial Activity Reporting - should be submitted by 3rd week in February. If there has been no financial activity, the report, indicating lack of financial activity, must still be signed and submitted.

  3. Officer Reporting - should be submitted by 3rd week in February. When no report is received, the position is listed as vacant.

  4. Attendance at oversight (Region or Section ExCom) committee meetings.

  5. Membership - figures based on Secretary's Report should indicate that there are sufficient numbers to maintain a viable unit. These figures should be tracked to identify trends.

  6. Meeting attendance - reports can be monitored to identify trends toward inactivity.
