Upon joining IEEE, a student member automatically becomes a member of their respective Student Branch (provided one exists).
The mission of Student Activities is to provide undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in IEEE designated fields with opportunities for educational, technical and professional development, emphasizing the value of continuing IEEE membership. There are more than 1,300 IEEE Student Branches at leading academic institutions worldwide.
Active participation in Student activities could lead to future career and professional networking opportunities. Activities during student events can prepare young IEEE members with professional development skills as they leave the college or university to enter the professional workforce. Student activities consist of a variety of activities including high school science fairs, cultural events, resume builders, job and internship workshops, design competitions, tutoring, Engineers Week activities, and fund raising.
