A) No,
signatures are no longer required. A) The
01 March deadline is not flexible. A) A
reference form is a required part of the nomination
process as it cites specific evidence of the
nominee's special qualities and impact of the
nominee's contributions. An endorsement form
strengthens a nomination, but is not required. A)
No, faxes are not accepted. A) The
nominee must meet the following three basic
qualifications: hold Senior Member grade at
the time the nomination is submitted; be an
"active" member (that is, dues must be current); and
must have completed five years of service in
any grade of IEEE membership. Note: IEEE
affiliate membership does not apply. Q) Can I nominate myself for Fellow grade? A) No,
self-nomination is NOT permitted. A) No,
the nominator may not serve as a reference. A) Newly
elevated Fellows are announced shortly after the
fourth quarter IEEE Board of Directors
meeting, normally scheduled in late-November / mid-December. A) The
IEEE Fellow Activities Staff notifies successful
nominees and their nominators via e-mail, fax,
or first class mail. Nominators of
unsuccessful nominees will be notified via e-mail,
fax or first class mail. Please note the
importance of having the current street information
on file with the IEEE Fellow Activities Staff. A) According to IEEE Bylaw I-306.9, "The total number of Fellow recommendations in any one year must not exceed one-tenth of one percent of the IEEE voting membership on record as of 31 December of the year preceding." E-mails Q) Can the nomination form, reference forms and endorsement forms be sent by e-mail? A) No, attachments in e-mails of nominations, references, or endorsements are not acceptable. Old Forms Q) Can an old nomination, reference, or endorsement form be submitted? A) No, current forms must be used. Old forms will not be accepted. Fellows Directory Q) If I am a Fellow or Life Fellow, why doesn't my name appear in the Fellow Directory? A) Only active Fellows and Life Fellows are listed in the Fellow Directory.
