How did IEEE find you?
|
|
By chance. I wanted to be involved
with a student club when I was a
second year undergraduate. IEEE
student branch happened to be the
only club that was still open for
nomination. So, I ran and was
elected!
|
Describe something that you did as a
volunteer that you are proud of:
|
|
Region 10 Student Congress.
Organizing the first student congress
in Asia was very challenging. Scouting
for funds, garnering support, and
hosting the delegates. These
stretched me in all senses. It was an
unforgettable experience.
|
How has IEEE nurtured you as a person?
|
|
Volunteering with IEEE has certainly
taught me to collaborate with people
from different cultures. The journey
has sharpened my leadership acumen,
and given me opportunities to explore
who I am.
|
How has IEEE prepared you for your workplace?
|
|
My research required me to solicit
development teams from Multinational
Companies like Philips, NXP, ASML to
take part in quantitative study. I
was able to reach out with confidence
and ease to the European management
to convince them of my research
propositions.
|
What do you like most about
volunteering with IEEE?
|
|
Exercising my creativity and
leadership skills in a safe
environment. I enjoyed it most when I
saw my team achieving goals that they
didn't think was possible. Feels
good.
|
What wouldn't be possible for you, if
you hadn't volunteered for
IEEE?
|
|
I certainly won't be able meet so
many passionate and dedicated people
from all over the world. I will have
lose out on the possibilities of
lifelong friendships if I hadn't
volunteered.
|
What do you find unique about IEEE?
|
|
IEEE has an effective
volunteer-staff operation model that
worked out amazingly well. It also
has an open atmosphere for ideas to
flourish. People actually listen to
you! Strange enough. Why Me?
|
Why did you continue volunteering?
|
|
It seems like IEEE is able to
attract people who are willing to
give. I enjoy being with like-minded
people. I would like to have the
opportunities to continue sharpening
my professional skills in an
international environment.
|
An IEEE friend who left an inspiring
impression on you.
