Carlos Rueda Artunduaga

Eng. Carlos Rueda Artunduaga, IEEE Senior Member, was born in Bucaramanga (Colombia) and is currently Coordinator of the Web Department at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, Bogota. He obtained his Systems Engineer degree and his Informatics Projects Management postgraduate degree (one year master), both from the Francisco Jose de Caldas Distrital University (Colombia). His current main fields of interest are web engineering and development, free software systems, and engineering management.

Eng. Rueda Artundauga was also a volunteer at his student branch in Colombia, where he had several different positions (magazine editor, webmaster, branch chairman, chapter chairman, counselor teacher, chapter advisor, mentor professional) and now is actively involved in IEEE Section activities as Membership Development Chair. Also, currently he is the IEEE Computer Society GOLD Coordinator and the Latinamerican Coordinator of the IEEE Education Society.

In June 2002, he was elected student representative and member of the IEEE WIE Committee because of the formation of the first WIE Student Affinity Group in IEEE. He won second place in the IEEE World-Wide Web Site Contest in 2001 and third place in 2002. The same year, he won the IEEE Larry K. Wilson Regional Student Activities Award, presented by the Regional Activities Board (RAB).

In IEEE I found a world full of friends with the same technical and professional fields of interest. As a volunteer, I learned about IEEE and other large organizations, made many new friends, and  realized that I had the opportunity to help other members through my work. Volunteering helped me learn about entity management, have more job opportunities, and to learn how a large organization works.
