Engineers are the people in our life who turn ideas into reality. To be an engineer was my ambition early on in life. I always wanted to be an eminent professional – an engineer who earns dignity from society. I was born in Singapore, and came to America to pursue my electrical engineering degree. Currently, I am working on my MBA, and plan to pursue my doctorate in electrical engineering in the future. I am a Senior Design Engineer in the Engineering Research and Development group at VICOR Corporation. I design high power density DC/DC power converter with innovative technologies and patented topologies. I am living in the Northeast of America. My hobbies go with its fabulous four seasons. I play golf during summer, play tennis during fall, go snowboarding during winter, and do gardening during spring. I also love flying. Presently, I am a student pilot and am working on my last stage of training to get my private pilot license. In my college years, I was an IEEE student branch chair. During that time, my Committee and I organized many activities for Engineering students, including the Region 1 student conference, and the Boston Section three wheels electric vehicle competition. Moreover, I demonstrated my Micromouse to many students at several high schools. (Micromouse is a small microprocessor-controlled mobile robot that can navigate its way through an unknown maze. It has won a world championship, and several IEEE Micromouse competitions.) I also introduced students to "What is engineering?" and inspired them to become future engineers. I formed Boston GOLD in 2000. Being an IEEE volunteer is advantageous in many ways. The experience gained from my active participation in the leadership positions in the IEEE have helped me developed sound interpersonal and organizational skills. I believe that because of these skills, I have the aptitude and drive to adapt to challenging and changing environments. | ![]() |
