IEEE GOLDRush Newsletter Submission of Articles

 1. The purpose of this request is to ensure that:

    (a) articles are submitted in a timely manner for publication in the IEEE GOLDRush;

    (b) all IEEE Regions have representation in GOLDRush during the calendar year;

    (c) a sufficient number of articles are submitted to GOLDRush to ensure it is an active, regular newsletter of interest to IEEE GOLD members, and

    (d) high quality articles are published in GOLDRush.

2. Four (4) editions of GOLDRush are to be published each year in mid-March, mid-June, mid-September and mid-December.  These editions will be announced by email, published on the web and as a downloadable PDF file.

3. IEEE Region 1-10 GOLD Coordinators are requested to submit at least two (2) articles on previous event(s) to the GOLDRush Editor (Adrian Pais a.pais@ieee.org), based on a rotation policy among the different regions as follows:

  • March (year) - Regions 1 and 10
  • June (year) - Regions 2, 6 and 9 (Submit by 15 May)
  • September (year) - Regions 4 and 8 (Submit by 15 August)
  • December (year) - Regions 3, 5 and 7 (Submit by 15 November)

IEEE Region 1-10 GOLD Coordinators may write the articles themselves (e.g. summarizing different events in their region) or ensure that particular GOLD Affinity Groups or GOLD members within their region submit articles to them, which are then checked/edited by them and sent to the GOLDRush editor after any modifications (if necessary).  The GOLDRush editor will then check the articles and if further modifications are necessary, either make them him/herself or liaison with the author/IEEE Region 1-10 GOLD Coordinator, before final publication.

Format for articles: in Microsoft Word not to exceed 700 words. Images should be sent both within the main paper file as well as separately as jpg files.

4. Articles on future events may be submitted at any time by an IEEE Region 1-10 GOLD Coordinator or GOLD Affinity Group Chair for publication in any of the GOLDRush editions.  To this end, the GOLDRush Editor will send a "call for future events" to IEEE Region 1-10 GOLD Coordinators at a suitable time before each edition is published.

5. IEEE GOLD representatives from societies, major boards and other entities are requested to submit at least one (1) article to the GOLDRush Editor (Adrian Pais a.pais@ieee.org), based on a rotation policy as follows:

March (submit by 15 February)

  • Any IEEE Society or Organizational Entity

The GOLD representatives may write the articles themselves or ensure that another GOLD member submits articles to them, which are then checked/edited by them and sent to the GOLDRush editor after any modifications (if necessary).  The GOLDRush editor will then check the articles and if further modifications are necessary, either make them him/herself or liaise with the author/GOLD representative, before final publication.

Format for articles: In Microsoft Word, not to exceed 200 words.  Images both within the file as well as separately as jpg.

6. The rotational policy stipulated in Items 3 and 5 does not preclude a Regional GOLD Coordinator or a society representative or major board from submitting an article for an edition to which he/she is not allocated. For example, although Regions 1 and 10 are requested to submit articles for publication in the March (year) edition, they are also welcome to (and encouraged to) submit articles for publication in other editions.

7. The GOLDRush editor will encourage individual GOLD members to submit articles for review.

8. The final decision to publish any article is made by the GOLDRush Editor.

9. Any questions are to be directed to GOLDRush Editor, Adrian Pais a.pais@ieee.org .
