Competition Rules

 

  • Registration for IEEEXtreme will open on 1 September 2009.
  • Teams will submit their problem solutions electronically using the online competition management system using the Mooshak tool.
  • To learn more about the Mooshak tool in preparation, please visit their information pages.
  • The 2009 contest problems will not be available until the day of the contest.
  • Languages supported are:  Microsoft Visual C++, C/C++, Java and some surprises.
  • IEEEXtreme has two teams of volunteers working to make this the best event to date.  The Organizing team members, responsible for the competition itself, publicity, marketing and working with the Technical team members, who will create and judge the problems.  Learn more about the volunteers who are making IEEEXtreme 3.0 possible.

  • A survival guide, with contest  frequently asked questions, will be updated regularly. Check back often.

Awards and Prizes

  

  • Fame:  Competing in the world’s most extreme programming contest is a big deal – winning means you get unlimited bragging rights.
  • The grand prize for the first place team is an all expenses paid trip to an IEEE conference or event of the team members’ choice.
  • Members of the winning teams will receive a gift bag, an IEEE certificate and prizes to recognize their efforts.
  • Updates on additional prizes will be announced soon.

Proctor Responsibilities

 

  • Each Venue should have a Proctor, who should be an IEEE Member of higher membership grade (not an undergraduate student member).  Members, Senior Members, Graduate Student members are acceptable Proctors. 
  • Student Branch Counselors, Department Chairs, or IEEE GOLD members will make great proctors; you may want to have two, so one can take a break, as it is a 24 hour challenge.
  • Proctor tasks include:
    • Ensure teams have the problems.
    • Keep track of the general flow of activity.
    • Inform students when the competition begins, at 12 hours into the competition, when there are 6 hours left and when there is 1 hour left.
    • Ensure that problem submissions are submitted during the competition.
