The IEEE Press Picture

The IEEE Press is seeking a broad range of original books in all aspects of electrical and electronic engineering, including: Professional handbooks for on-the-job applications Cutting-edge monographs on fast-growing areas in the field Graduate textbooks for advanced students and professionals Reprints of collected papers Could You Be an IEEE Press Author? Today's IEEE Press is devoted to quality and growth -- and as an author, you should consider becoming part of our publishing family. Our authors come from all walks of the engineering profession: the academic classroom, the research laboratory, the production facility, the consultant's office, and the managerial suite. Some have published technical papers or conducted professional seminars or short courses prior to writing for the Press, but all are experts in their field and share a commitment to providing timely, practical, effective information to help readers solve their work-related problems.

Why publish with the Press?

Visibility and Prestige. We've published some of the greatest names in our profession and are known for our timely, authoritative, practical books. As an IEEE author, you will be part of a select company.

We are Electrical Engineering! No one understands EE publishing and marketing like us. We have access to the inside pipeline to the discipline, and because EE is our only business, we have to know our readers and the market better than other publishers.

Friendlier, professional folks! Although we're a significant EE publisher, we're not a megaorganization with a faceless bureaucracy and unfathomable rules and regulations; we are a collection of individuals who will interact with you one-on-one in a timely and sensible manner throughout the entire publishing process, from proposal to published book.

High quality books. We're committed to publishing the best books in electrical engineering and work with each author to determine what assistance we may offer to help in the preparation of the book manuscript and what production steps are needed to turn an author's vision into reality.

We sell books! As the largest professional society for electrical and computer engineers, IEEE offers unrivaled access to the electrical engineering community internationally. We are an effective multi-channel promoter of our books.

How to submit a proposal to the IEEE Press

In order for us to consider your book idea, we would like to see a proposal. A proposal provides a snapshot of your project. It explains what the book will contain and how it will be organized (including a detailed table of contents), why it is needed, who will want to buy it and why, the market environment for your book, your estimate of the length and size of the book, as well as how long you expect the writing to take, and some biographical information about yourself. We will look at your proposal internally, and ask some external reviewers to look at it as well, to determine whether there is a market and need for your book, and whether we could successfully market your book. Although the length of this review process varies from project to project, generally it takes several weeks.

To submit your completed proposal guidelines, or if you would like to become a reviewer, please contact:
