IEEE Information Drives Semiconductor Patents

Studies conducted by the independent research organization 1790 Analytics have shown that IEEE scientific and technical articles are cited more than six times as often as articles from any other publisher.

In the Semiconductor industry, more patents cite IEEE than any other publisher –– 28% of all patent citations versus 14% for the number-two organization, AIP, and 8% for the number-three publisher, Elsevier Science.

Looking at the broader period of 1983 to 2003, an earlier study illustrates that patents from the semiconductor industry referenced IEEE publications almost 24,000 times. During this period, only the American Institute of Physics received more references than IEEE and then only by a margin of 1.8%.
