September 2008—IEEE has approved six new
publications for 2009. The list of new journal
titles offers an exciting array of information on
emerging and multidisciplinary technical topics
including:
IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine
IEEE Transactions on Autonomous Mental Development
IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical
Communications and Networking
IEEE Photonics Journal
IEEE Embedded Systems Letters
IEEE Transactions on Computational
Intelligence and AI in Games
IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine
The IEEE Solid-State Circuits (SSC) Magazine
will target the practicing engineers that comprise
the majority of the Society’s membership
with peer-reviewed articles from leaders in the
industry, addressing fundamental theories and
practical advances in the field of integrated
circuits.
IEEE Transactions on
Autonomous Mental Development
Recent advances in computational
intelligence, cognitive science, neuroscience and
robotics have stimulated the birth and rapid
growth of this new research field. Mental
development is a process during which a brain-like
natural or artificial embodied system, under the
control of its intrinsic species-specific
developmental program residing in the natural or
artificially designed genes, develops mental
capabilities through its autonomous real-time
interactions with its environments (including the
brain’s own internal environment) using its
own sensors and effectors.
IEEE/OSA Journal of
Optical Communications and Networking
The IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical
Communications and Networking (JOCN) will publish
both theoretical and practical contributions that
advance the state-of-the-art in optical
communications and networking research.
IEEE Photonics Journal
Breakthroughs in the generation of light and
in its control and utilization have given rise to
the field of photonics, a rapidly expanding area
of science and technology with major technological
and economic impact. Photonics integrates quantum
electronics and optics to accelerate progress in
the generation of novel photon sources and in
their utilization in emerging applications at the
micro and nano scales spanning from the
far-infrared/THz to the x-ray region of the
electromagnetic spectrum.
IEEE Embedded Systems Letters
The IEEE Embedded Systems Letters (ESL)
provides a forum for rapid dissemination of the
latest technical advances in embedded systems and
related areas in embedded software. The emphasis
is on models, methods and tools that ensure
secure, correct, efficient and robust design of
embedded systems and their applications.
IEEE Transactions on
Computational Intelligence and AI in Games
The IEEE Transactions on Computational
Intelligence and AI in Games (T-CIAIG) will
publish peer-reviewed articles in computational
intelligence and related areas in artificial
intelligence applied to games. The scope of the
journal includes video games, mathematical games,
human-computer interactions in games and games
involving physical objects.
