IEEE Signs Key Archiving Agreement with Portico

December 2006 – The IEEE has signed a key archiving agreement with Portico, an electronic archiving service launched in 2005 with funding from JSTOR, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Ithaka, and The Library of Congress. "This new agreement with Portico provides IEEE customers with the confidence that access to our award-winning journals, standards and conference proceedings will remain reliable for generations to come," said Anthony Durniak, Staff Executive, IEEE Publications. "Our aim is to ensure the integrity of our electronic content is both preserved and continues to be accessible in the face of constantly evolving technology." Through this agreement IEEE enhances their long-standing commitment to preservation by archiving back issues of all IEEE journals, standards and conference proceedings, starting with the first issue of each available online. IEEE will make an annual financial contribution to support Portico’s ongoing operations. |
