IEEE TV Tower in Second Life

Situated at the center of IEEE Island 1, the IEEE.tv Tower houses four multimedia theaters.

Each theater provides to Second Life residents on-demand viewing of select IEEE.tv programming.

IEEE has created in Second Life® a virtual infrastructure and presence to support its staff, volunteer and member needs. This presence is spread across two islands and serves as a gateway for interested people to explore and participate in the activities of the IEEE.

What is Second Life?

Second Life® is an online 3-D virtual world within which residents are able to establish identities (avatars), explore, create and communicate. Referred to as "inworld" by its residents, this interactive environment lends itself well to social networking, collaboration and learning.

Location: IEEE TCDL auditorium

Help the IEEE Computer Society plan their presence inside Second Life! The Computer Society seeks to gain expertise in using virtual technology as a business tool for areas such as immersive training, simulations and visualization.

Professionals, students and IEEE members are encouraged to attend.

The Islands

Island 1 is populated with IEEE buildings such as the IEEE.tv Tower, Standards Association, human resources center, and conference center.

IEEE Island 2

Island 2 serves as a location for IEEE section, society, chapter and student groups to occupy and conduct their own IEEE activities.
