Membership in the IEEE
Standards Association allows the IEEE
Member to participate in
standards development by being the first
to learn about and read new
standards and drafts, as well as vote on
standards. All Standards Association
members:
- Have a direct avenue
into the world renowned standard
development program
- Are the first to know
about new business and technical
opportunities based on standards
- Are empowered to help
guide the SA through voting
privileges
There are two types of
Standards Association memberships:
Individual Membership and Corporate
Membership. Individual Members
participate and ballot as individuals
and are not representing a
company or organization. Corporate
Members participate and ballot
as representatives of their corporation
or organization. Trade
associations, academic institutions and
other standards-setting
bodies can also be corporate members.
Members are not just
technical people. Many business people
who are not IEEE members
belong to the Standards Association
because standards are such an
important business strategy component.
