Following the declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) of COVID-19 as a pandemic, local, regional, national, and international bodies have moved to restrict travel and mass gatherings. After careful consideration and in light of the global health emergency and pervasive travel restrictions, IEEE will not be holding the 15 May 2020 IEEE VIC Summit and Honors Ceremony. This was a difficult decision; however, the safety and well-being of participants is of paramount importance to IEEE. Our thoughts are with all who have been affected by the virus.
For updates on how IEEE will be honoring IEEE's 2020 Medal & Recognitions recipients, and for upcoming information on the 2021 IEEE Summit and Honors Ceremony, please continue to monitor the IEEE VIC Summit and Honors Ceremony website at www.ieee-vics.org.
Many thanks for your ongoing support of the IEEE Awards Program.
On Friday, 11 May, the 2018 IEEE Vision, Innovation, and Challenges Summit (VIC Summit) & Honors Ceremony was held at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco, CA, USA.
Building on the success of the inaugural 2017 VIC Summit, the 2018 Summit brought together technical, entrepreneurial, and industrial experts with a forward-looking vision of the important and sometimes controversial role engineering is playing in society and the impact it will have on our future. This day-long event led into the evening's Honors Ceremony—where we celebrated those whose pioneering work led to the technical achievements we all live with and use today.
