20 July – IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional association, announced today its participation as Program Partner at FORTUNE magazine’s FORTUNE Brainstorm: TECH, taking place July 22-24, 2009, in Pasadena, California.  As Program Partner, IEEE is working closely with FORTUNE to provide insights into technological innovations that are shaping the future.

FORTUNE Brainstorm: TECH will bring together America’s top CEOs, policy leaders, entrepreneurs and tech pioneers for three days of discussion and debate. This year’s Brainstorm: TECH, titled “Global Crisis, Global Opportunity,” will focus on how technology companies, content creators and other institutions can thrive in tough economic times and help lead the way to create a new era of global prosperity. FORTUNE editors and writers will interview and moderate panel discussions with the country’s leading figures in business and technology. IEEE members are participating in a number of these sessions at the conference, including:

  • IEEE Fellow Saifur Rahman will chair a panel discussing “Smart Grid: Making it a Reality” on Friday, July 24 at 8:00 a.m. He will be joined by IEEE Past President, Leah Jamieson, and IEEE Fellow John McDonald, to discuss the next steps the power and energy industries need to take in order to work together to ensure the viability of the world’s energy grid.
