Hundreds of eLearning Library Courses Now Available in IEEE Xplore®

19 October 2015 - IEEE now offers more than 400 eLearning courses through the IEEE eLearning Library in the newly mobile-optimized IEEE Xplore. The IEEE eLearning library provides more streamlined access to leading educational and informational IEEE content through advanced browsing and filtering options.

eLearning Industry Is Rapidly Growing

Studies have shown that the eLearning industry is rapidly on the rise. According to EdTech Magazine, 77 percent of companies in the US offer online corporate training to improve the development of their employees, and an estimated 46 percent of college students are enrolled in at least one online course. As this number increases, individuals, corporations, and institutions are turning to eLearning as they recognize its effectiveness and convenience.

The IEEE eLearning Library selects the best educational content from IEEE conferences and workshops around the world and delivers them in engaging, instructional, and interactive online courses that are developed, peer-reviewed, and updated by leading experts in the field.

The launch of the IEEE Xplore eLearning Library brings a new and improved platform and user experience for those looking to enhance their professional development, along with:

  • Fresh content, such as new courses in cloud computing, that will be added to existing courses that cover Batteries, Fiber Optics, Digital Circuit Design, Smart Grid, Biometrics, Sustainable Green Engineering, National Electrical Safety Code, RFID, Power Applications, and Communication Technologies with other trending industry subjects to follow
  • Several flexible subscription options for organizations that enable users in any size organization, such as students, faculty, researchers, and engineers, to not only benefit from the content but also have the opportunity to earn continuing education units (CEUs) and professional development hours (PDHs)
  • More than 400 courses to keep engineers up to speed, including five free courses available until the end of the year
In response to the growing use of mobile devices, the IEEE Xplore digital library now includes mobile-optimized pages for browse, search, and other functions. These updates allow users to more easily access and use key IEEE Xplore features from smartphones and tablets. This latest update also added a new remote-access option that allows institutional users to access their Xplore subscription when away from their campus or office locations.
